Program note

September Variations was created in response to the tragedy of the attacks in America on September 11 of the previous year.  It is a cross-media improvisational framework with open instrumentation.  September Variations was premiered by the Hong Kong Baptist University Contemporary Music Workshop on May 3, 2002 at Hong Kong Baptist University's Academic Community Hall.
